Interlocking precast blocks that work with the ground
EC Geoblock is a precast concrete block system made up of two unit shapes, an E and a C, that interlock to form a stable, free-draining wall. The open cells are filled with granular material and can be planted, so the finished wall drains well and greens over time.
Grooves on the top face of each block lock geogrid reinforcement in place, which lets the same units be used for simple gravity walls and for tall mechanically stabilised earth walls. The system is patented internationally and has been studied in published engineering research.
- Fast installation with a small crew and light equipment
- Free-draining, so water pressure does not build up behind the wall
- Flexible: tolerates minor settlement without cracking
- Green finish that blends into the landscape
Where EC Geoblock is used

Gravity walls
For walls up to moderate height, the weight and interlock of the blocks alone retain the soil. Quick to build and easy to blend with existing structures.

Mechanically stabilised earth walls
Geogrid layers anchored in the block grooves reinforce the backfill, allowing tall walls along roads and development platforms.

Soil nail walls and slope remedial works
Used as a durable, green facing over soil nailed slopes, including repairs after slope failure.

Riverfront erosion protection
The open, free-draining structure protects riverbanks and drainage reserves while allowing vegetation to establish.

Ground improvement
EC Geoblock units can be used as part of ground improvement schemes. A simulation study of this application has been published in the IEM Journal.

Large retaining walls
With geogrid reinforcement and engineered backfill, EC Geoblock scales to large walls on infrastructure and development projects.

Award-winning and peer-reviewed
EC Geoblock received the Gold Award at the 12th Malaysian Road Conference and Exhibition in 2024, recognising its contribution to road infrastructure.
The system has also been the subject of published engineering research: a simulation study of EC Geoblock for ground improvement in the IEM Journal, and an article on EC Geoblock gravity walls in the journal CONSTRUCTION published by Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah.
